46th Annual Beach Pop Tennis Championship 2018

Thank you to all players, sponsors and volunteers for a fantastic 46th annual tournament.  We appreciate your flexibility with the schedule and location changes.  There were 62 teams. It took 122 matches to get it finished. We were able to set up 19 courts on the beach and play until 4:00 or so (before the tide washed us out).  Due to high rain predictions for Sunday, we decided to finish the entire tournament on Saturday.  Teams packed up from the beach, and headed to Treaty Park to finish their matches.  Everything wrapped up around 8:30 pm - 9:00 pm.  We did it!  Below are some results and photos of the event.  See more photos on our Facebook group: Annual National Beach Pop Tennis Tournament.

Welcome to beautiful Saint Augustine and the 2018 Beach Pop Tennis Nationals! We are excited that you’ve chosen to participate in this, our 46th annual tournament. We hope you have a great experience this weekend, not only on the courts, but in our nation's oldest city. For locals and visitors alike, we will work hard to ensure that things go as smoothly as possible and are here to help and answer questions all weekend. We appreciate everyone doing their part to help make that happen as well. We have a very full weekend planned for you!

Thank you Lynn Merulla for the great artwork!

Thank you Lynn Merulla for the great artwork!

Other thanks you's to Jason Anderson and Aaron Rimel for their help setting up courts.  Also to Anthony Merulla for running mixed doubles on Friday night.  And also to Bill Brothers for hosting the after party at his Atlantic Beach and Tennis Club.

This truly is an historic year of change for our wonderful sport. The change really began when Kenny Linder in Los Angeles was willing to devote substantial time and resources into growing our sport. He spearheaded the name change to POP Tennis, which has received international attention and led to a ground-breaking promotion program with the United States Tennis Association. Under the leadership of Mitch Kutner, who is the new President of the USPTA, he continues to work closely with the USTA as we partner to grow our great game. We can look forward to very exciting times ahead - stay tuned for updates!

Your weekend of fun and great competition is here! Relax, enjoy, compete, and make a lifetime of great memories over the next few days!
